Franklin Graham Festival: We took our two oldest girls. It was amazing!

Strawberry Shortcake...for dinner...a family tradition started by my grandparents that we plan to continue. Once during the June strawberry season we have home-made shortcake, fresh strawberries with real whipped cream...oh - and some really good vanilla ice cream too!
And then there are the things you can't quite catch a picture of like... fly-by kisses from little smudged faces, hearing a happy i-love-you as one of them scurries out the door with a snack or drink.... oh! and sleeping past 6:30!
One more...

A great neighbor who plants beautiful flowers for us to enjoy AND will come over at 2:30 a.m. to sit with my kids when I have to drive my husband to the E.R. Thanks, Lisa!
(and for the record...Clinton is o.k. now)

Sounds like a great summer so far.
The strawberry shortcake for dinner is an interesting idea...
I usually make "cake" for dinner on April 1. Really it's meatloaf "frosted" with mashed potatoes and decorated with drops of ketchup and mustard, but it really looks like cake!
I wonder what my kids would think if I plopped a strawberry shortcake on the table for dinner next week. I just might do it!
IR - Your kids may react like my 5 year old did...her eyes just about fell out of her head then she began the dancing, leaping, singing etc. She lives life out loud!
The trick is to fill them up with a substantial, protein filled lunch that day! And, shortcake takes very little sugar traditionally so when you make it yourself you can control that too. Let me know how it goes if you try it! :)
YAY, IR! You posted....love the pics!
